Senior Trainer – Travis J.

For more than a decade Travis J. has been regarded as a leader in the field of communication consulting as an accent reduction coach he’s been in high demand as a speech consultant, dialect coach and lecturer in New York and Los Angeles.  Receiving a B.F.A. from N.Y.U., Tisch School of the Arts, he majored in Acting and Speech, and minored in Organizational Psychology, studying “The Method” under the auspices of Geoffrey Horne (Bridge on the River Kwai; Association Award Winner) and previous Alumni from the Yale School of Drama. Following undergraduate studies, he began his work with the Voice Center of New York, (Dr. William Reilly), while a Master’s Degree student at the (New School University, Actors’ Studio Drama, MFA); New York City. While attending his first year of the inaugural class at The New School for Social Research, he was invited to participate in the Edinburgh Festival, U.K., where he worked closely with fellow U.K. dialecticians and international colleagues from Central School of Speech, London, England.

He continues to work on various theatrical productions for stage and screen where his practical and technical understanding of Phonetics and classic literature is influenced by Linklater, Skinner, and Berry. While embarking on his efforts to teach his repertoire of speech dialects  and accent modification, (he speaks in over a dozen dialects), he, founded, N.Y. Speech Consulting, a Communications Consultancy, specializing in Cross-Cultural Communication for foreign diplomats and business executives at the United Nations.

During his tenure at the U.N., he worked as a political speech consultant, and was founder of the ARTA Method of Accent Reduction, through is research, which is based on thousands of hours of personal training of numerous foreign and political public figures. He then broadened his outreach and business development efforts while at ARTA to amass a client list of top for tune 100 companies as well as many of today’s top stars in Hollywood. He credits his practicum while working under the direction of the today’s for emost masters of voice; Maestro, Mark Oswald, (Metropolitan Opera Young Artists) and Maestro, Vladimir Chernov (Metropolitan Opera). A consummate student of the human voice his exploratory of the human voice, he tries to take something seemingly intangible, and makes it tangible.
